USAID Resources, Skills, and Capacities in Early Grade Reading in Afghanistan is a twenty-month project designed to provide valuable information to USAID and the Afghan government regarding the current state of literacy among Afghan primary students. This project works closely with the Ministry of Education (MOE) to accomplish several goals including: conducting a national early grade reading assessment (EGRA) in grades two and four; compiling an inventory of available early grade reading materials in public and CBE schools; identifying challenges to the educational system’s capacity to implement early grade reading reform; assessing school management effectiveness.
