The Conservation Organisation for Afghan Mountain Areas (COAM) was founded in 2010 as a non-profit organisation to support efforts and raise awareness in protecting endangered species to preserve and restore native habitat, conserve the rich and diverse natural heritage and support communities to foster mutually beneficial relationships with the land. Globalisation and climate change are increasing the pressure on already fragile ecosystems and livelihoods. COAM’s mission is to encourage stewardship of the area’s diverse resources through a variety of initiatives engaging all members of society in environmental protection, sustainable technology development, community support and education to enrich the livelihoods of people in the Central Highlands and to build natural and community resilience.
COAM’s motto is Protect. Connect. Support.
