The Civil Peace Service / Ziviler Friedensdienst (ZFD) is a Programme financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is implemented by a consortium of German development and peace agencies, most of them non-governmental and GIZ being governmental. The ZFD supports projects aimed at non-violent conflict resolution in various countries worldwide. As an impartial actor, it assists local partner organizations. Its objectives are the prevention of violent conflicts, the reduction of violence, and the long-term securing of peace.
