Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University.
The USAID funded, Jhpiego-led HEMAYAT project is a five year project aiming to exponentially increase access to, utilization of and demand for high-quality, gender-sensitive and sustainable FP/MNCH services provided by the Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health’s (MoPH’s) Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and the private sector. This project emphasizes reaching vulnerable populations with high-quality services, especially women, youth and rural Afghans. To access to higher levels of care, we also strengthen referral systems to hospitals via the Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS) at the provincial level. At the core of the project’s technical approach is capacity building and a systematic transition of the project’s agenda to the MoPH’s national and provincial health authorities.
