Mercy Corps has been working in Afghanistan continuously since 1986, and in recent years, has helped more than 2.5 million Afghans through a wide-range of community–based agriculture and economic development programs. Mercy Corps is funded in Afghanistan by the European Union (EU) Department for International Development of the British Government (DFID) and German Development Bank.


Mercy Corps (MC) is present in Afghanistan with a large portfolio of programs addressing the promotion of sustainable licit livelihoods, agriculture development, youth vocational and natural resource management. Contained within the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Department are the individual components of Communications and PR, DM&E, MIS, Research, Compliance and Quality Assurance (pertaining to engineering for structures). The department plans, collects, collates and publishes data across the country portfolio and is primarily research driven. Mercy Corps Afghanistan has committed to a research agenda focused on proving robust, innovative and actionable analysis on critical development issues in order to support powerful evidence-based international development programming. The position will fall under the MEL unit of Mercy Corps Afghanistan.
