In mid- October 2015 H.E. The President approved the creation of the Office of the Minister of State for Disaster and Humanitarian Affairs under the leadership of H.E. Wais Ahmad Barmak.
The Office of the Minister of State is responsible co-ordinating all disaster and humanitarian activities in Afghanistan, including the Mine Action Programme for Afghanistan (MAPA), on behalf of the Government of Afghanistan. The Minister will also chair and direct the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA). All international aid efforts will be coordinated and directed through the Office of the Minister of State.
Summary of Duties
The International Adviser will support the leadership of the Minister of State for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs and ensure the commitments and responsibilities of his Office are fulfilled to a high standard.
The International Adviser will also support the Minister of State as Chairperson of ANDMA in providing coordination and strategic direction for the Authority and the improvement of its institutional governance and performance.
