NCA has been engaged in long term and humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations in Afghanistan since 1979, first from Peshawar and later from Kabul. Although in the later years the NCA program in Afghanistan has predominantly featured long-term development interventions, including water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), occasional emergency responses have also been provided. Due to the increasing country needs as well as NCA’s ambitions as a global WASH actor, plans are now being made to scale up our capacity and responses within the WASH sector in Afghanistan.

In order to strengthen NCA’s capacity on WASH in Afghanistan, NCA seeks to recruit a WASH professional who can provide strong strategic leadership, strengthen existing programme and develop new projects, inspire and build staff members’ capacity, and secure quality of work. The successful candidate will also be required to represent NCA and participate in coordination mechanisms and contribute to strengthening WASH sector coordination at national and provincial levels. NCA seek to play a more active role in humanitarian assistance provision in Afghanistan and therefore seek a person who can represent NCA on established humanitarian foras and who has the capacity to attract new donors to support NCA’s humanitarian work in Afghanistan.
